One of the leading teaching hospitals in Nepal, Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital is a 600-bedded teaching hospital that has been providing a place for clinical study to the medical students. The hospital provides indoor, outdoor, intensive care and emergency services along with highly sophisticated diagnostic and other therapeutic services to the people at comparatively low cost. The hospital provides outpatient services from 9 am to 4 pm every day except on Saturdays and Public Holidays. CMCTH provides indoor and outdoor services to the patients through its departments that are Medicine with ICU, Surgery, Gynaecology/Obstetrics, Pediatric with NICU, Orthopedic, Otorhinolaryngology, Psychiatry, Dermato-Venerology, Dentistry and Emergency/Observation. There are separate rooms for the head of the department, professor, associate professor of the department along with rooms for procedure, tutorial, library and dressing room in surgical units.
The clinical department currently has 509 beds which are to be increased to nine hundred in near future. The fully equipped emergency department of the hospital has forty beds and has emergency lab, portable X-ray, monitors, separate compartments for trauma, triage, resuscitation room, procedure room, observation room and adjacent three fully functional operation theatres in order to fasten the ER management. It is staffed with two of the general practitioners, sufficient house officers and staff nurses to take care of emergency full time.
The indoor clinical department has accommodation for HODs, Unit staff and nurses duty room, laboratory for ordinary pathological examinations, examinations and treatment room, store for linen and equipment and clinical demonstration rooms. There is a 66 bedded pediatric ward with fourteen beds in fully equipped NICU, two different male and female wards with fully facilitated ICU under the department of medicine, operation theatre with patients waiting room, preparation room, operation theatre, post-operative recovery room, soiled linen room, instrument room, sterilization room, assistants room and washing room for surgeons and assistants.
The outdoor clinical department has examination rooms and case demo room, laboratory facilities, dressing room and injection room in surgery, refraction room/dark room in Ophthalmology, plaster room in Orthopedics section, audiometry room in ENT Section, child welfare clinic and play room, immunization room and ORT Room.
The department of radio diagnosis under the radiology and imaging department has one CT scan (16 slice), three USGs, computerized radiography system, 500 ma x-ray machine with fluoroscopic connection and anteroom for store, dark room and other space.
