Established by a group of enthusiastic, dedicated and successful professionals and entrepreneurs from different fields including business, teaching, engineering, banking, accounting and management, Garima Bikas Bank Limited was incorporated under Company Act in 2064 BS. Two months after being incorporated, it acquired license from Nepal Rastra Bank to perform its financial transactions which was approved by the Company Registrar’s Office. Although initially the bank started its operation from Waling 3, Syangja, its head office was shifted to Pokhara with the motive of speeding up the expansion plan and facilitating the upgrading of the to a national level development bank. The current head office (2019) is in Lazimpat, Kathmandu.

The major objectives of Garima Bikas Bank Limited are to provide sustainable and quality financial services to the public upholding and enhancing the interest of depositors and shareholders of the bank, help in development of industrial, commercial and agricultural sectors of the nation by collecting and mobilizing financial resources from internal and external sources so as to establish, develop and increase the overall productivity of the nation, promote in establishment, operation and expansion of employment generating businesses in rural and urban areas by proper mobilization of available capital and labor, support and help alleviate poverty by providing financial, technical and managerial supports to the needy people and to play a financial intermediary role through institutional investment.
To meet its objectives and mission, the bank has come up with various products and services such as Normal Saving Account, Kalyankari Saving Account, Call Deposit, Ex Army Saving Account, Garima Mahila Saving Account, Staff Saving Account, Garima Swarnim Saving Account, Super Saving Account, Social Development Account, Shareholder Saving Account Group Saving Account (Micro Finance), Personal Saving Account (Micro Finance), Public Saving Account, Garima Health Secure Deposit and Fixed Deposit under its deposit schemes and Business/Industrial Loan, Hire Purchase Loan, Home Construction/Repair Loan, Land and Plot Purchase Loan, Service Industry Loan, Education/Health/Tourism Loan, Real Estate/ OD Loan, Overseas Employment Loan, Social Loan, Agricultural Loan and Loan Against Fixed Deposit. Besides these, other services provided by the bank include remittance, microfinance and ATM and debit cards. The bank has thirteen branches at various locations.
The bank merged with Nilgiri Bikash Bank Limited and Subekshya Bikash Bank Limited in 2016.
