Established in the year 1999 AD, Gorkha United Public Higher Secondary School (GUHSS) is a joint venture of retired British Gurkhas and Singapore Police. The school was established with the vision of providing quality education to the students at an affordable price, at the time when most of the students in the region migrate towards eastern part of Nepal or different cities of India for their studies.

Spread over 1.6 hectares of land, the school has its own academic and administrative buildings, science labs,  computer lab, library, audio-visual room, playing arena, hostel, dining hall and football, basketball, volleyball, cricket and badminton ground. The school envisions producing a didactic world where the children from diverse backgrounds and all corner of country have access to quality education and the school, over the years, has been successful to keep up with its vision with the help of its excellent teaching and administrative staff.

It provides separate hostels for boys and girls close to the school where over hundred students stay under the supervision of experienced and dedicated hostel wardens. The school hostel also offers coaching classes for the students by the respective subject teachers and extracurricular activities with assistance of residential teachers and administrative staff. The school provides regular tutorial classes to assist class IX, X and plus two level throughout the academic year. The school also uses the audio visual aids to assist students in understanding various theories, hypothesis and phenomenon. It has expanded its library with thousands of books on science and technology, mathematics, Nepali and English literature and Encyclopedia with assistance and support of volunteer teachers from UK and Gorkha Welfare Scheme (GWS). Moreover, the library also has thousands of daily, monthly and yearly magazines, novels and reference books to help the students develop an interest in reading.

The science labs of the school are fully equipped with all the necessary elements required for conducting experiments and testing theories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Also, the fully functional computer lab helps to provide computer education to the students as well as the internet facility helps them conduct research for reference as well as course materials. The wide and sufficient playground of the school provides an ample space to the students for playing games like football, volleyball, cricket, badminton, table tennis along with practicing martial arts. The school also offers transportation facilities to the students living at longer distance such as Nepalgunj, Bansgadi, Chisapani, Chappergaudi and Kohalpur. Moreover, the school provides insurance against Group Personal Accident (GPA) of the staffs and students. The school that started its operations with kindergarten now conducts higher secondary level and has gained a reputation for providing quality education to the students.
