Himal Hospital

One of the oldest private hospitals in Nepal, Himal Hospital was established in the year 1978 in Biratnagar as Thapa Nursing Home. The hospital was later relocated at its present location in Gyaneshwor, Kathmandu in the year 1988 after the founders Dr. June Thapa and Dr. Lok Bikram Thapa were transferred to the capital city. It was then, that the name of the nursing home was changed as Himal Nursing Home and then, later as Himal Hospital.



Established with the mission of dedicating itself to deliver exceptional patient first health care, the hospital provide the region with the highest quality and latest medical advances through excellence in patient care, education and research. The hospital envisions becoming the trusted leader in caring for people and advancing health. The hospital is operated by five members Board of Directors (BoD). The fifty bedded general hospital gives special focus on Obstetrics/Gynecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT Surgery and General Medicine.

Himal Hospital has three operation theatres and an intensive care unit (ICU) with four beds and twenty four hours Emergency Department Laboratory and Radiology facilities. The physiotherapy unit and infertility clinic of the hospital are its integral parts. The hospital that has more than forty senior consultants specialized in different departments attending to the patients in the OPD also provides practical training for nurses from various nursing schools in the valley. Moreover, Himal Hospital has been participating actively in providing opportunities to young medical graduates to strengthen their practical knowledge and improving their skills, in collaboration with other private and government hospitals including the teaching hospitals.
