House of Alternative Apparel
At the time when fashion is getting high in Kathmandu, House of Alternative Apparel (HAA) is a newly launched Nepali fashion house. Established in 2010, this innovation by Manish Pandit and Malvika Subba deals with all creative things and aims to bring out affordable, trendy and quality products.
House of Alternative Apparel currently has three sub-brands, they are: Eco-essential, Just T’s and Aira. All clothes in HAA are locally designed and made. The fabrics are imported from India and Bangladesh, however, sometimes, local fabrics are used. It is done in order to avoid copying and also similarities between the clothes made in HAA and other places.
It gives platform to the new designers and the students of fashion designing in the Namuna College of Baasbari are given the opportunity to showcase their talents. Also the famous Nepali designer Tenzin Tseten Bhutia designs exclusive collection for Aira.
Eco-essential sub-brand is focused on organic and eco friendly clothing with eco friendly quotes or pictures. This is available for both men and women and is aimed to be exported to international markets as well. Just T’s is there for the casual market and is dedicated to both men and women. It is focused on creating cool, funky and funny t-shirts.
The third sub-brand Aira is a women only brand. It is for the trendy women of today and offers chic and fabulous collections. Price range differs according to the designs and quality of the material.
All the clothes, excluding Bhutia’s collection is quite affordable. People confusing it for a boutique troubles the owner who clearly mentions it to be a fashion house. For those who prefer designer clothing, House of Alternative Apparel is a place to visit.
