Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital and Research Center

Established in the year 2007, Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital and Research Center (KDCH) started its academic session since 2007 with the intake of forty students. The college conducts BDS course and has associated hospital with one hundred beds which provides extensive clinical facilities to the students for learning at both, urban and rural centers and is located in same building.



Affiliated to Kathmandu University (KU), the course offered here is recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and the Government of Nepal Ministry of Education/Health and Population. The college faculty consists of highly skilled and experienced teacher and staff members dedicated to imparting quality education to the students. The college not only provides quality education but also conducts patients’ examination and extensive activities in many of the dental camps.

The college linked with the associate organization like Kantipur Oral Health Education Foundation, Kantipur School of Dentistry Kathmandu, Kantipur Institute of Health Sciences Pokhara, Kantipur Dental Hospital and Research Center Maharajgunj, Kathmandu and Gandaki Rural Community Hospital Shyangja. The fully facilitated educational institution comprises of all requisites like laboratories, museum, well-stocked library with a plenty of periodicals and reference books, hostel, cafeteria and buses for transportation and dental camps.

The college aims to establish Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital and Research Center as a center of excellence in dental education, service, research and professional development to help nation achieve its goal in related field. The college was started with a mission of offering standard dental education and service by means of latest technologies being operated by highly qualified professionals to meet the ever changing aspirations of valued students, parent’s graduates, faculties, patients, people and other stake holders.

Its objectives are to craft KDCH as one of the best institutions in the specialization of dentistry, to provide quality dental education and service of international standard in the country, to produce qualified dental professionals at various levels to meet the requirement of the nation, to establish functional partnership at national and international levels for promotion of oral health awareness, to promote research and development in the areas of dental science, to promote professionalism and ethical work environment and to contribute as a development partner in nation buildings.

The Kathmandu Dental College Teaching Hospital and Research Center offer various academic courses in the various academic departments located separately in the same block. The departments are categorized as basic medical and dental science departments and have laboratories, HOD’s chamber, preparation room and faculty room of their own. The courses offered for Basic Medical Science Departments include Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology and pharmacology, the courses for Basic Dental Science Departments include oral biology, dental materials. Pre-clinical prosthodontics, pre-clinical conservative dentistry and pre-clinical orthodontics, the courses offered for Clinical Medical Science Department include general medicine and general surgery and the courses offered for Clinical Dental Science Department includes oral medicine and radiology, conservative and endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontics/implantology, prosthodontics, community and public health dentistry, orthodontics and pedodontics.
