Established with the vision of providing cost effective micro finance services to the poorest of the poor people and deprived population of mid-western development region and thereby raise their socio-economic condition, Madhya Paschimanchal Gramin Bikas Bank Limited (MPGBBL) was established on Chaitra 28, 2051 BS. The bank envisions to strengthen the rural economy of the country and uplift the lives of people living in the rural areas of the country and to make them independent through self employment.

Registered under the Company Act of Nepal 2063 and operating under the Bank and Financial Institution Act 2063 (BAFIA), this ‘D’ grade financial institution licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank considers it its mission to deliver micro-finance services at the doorstep of the poorest of the poor and deprived sector of the society through participatory self development approach. The bank operating in mid western region of the country aims to reduce poverty through micro credit and other related services and to operate the bank with financially sustainable and operationally viable approach. The bank has about thirty branch offices in three districts. The bank following Gramin financial system originated in Bangladesh by Professor M. Yunus provides financial supports and training programs to rural population who come under poor and deprived sector. It also encourages community based works and provide loan without collateral to women for small industries to overcome poverty.

The major objectives of the bank is to improve the income level of the rural poor by providing self-employment opportunities through micro-credit facilities, provide banking services to the rural poor, including regular saving habit, undertake awareness creation exercises among the poor people especially women through training and community development activities, reduce poverty by improving income level of the people living below poverty line, contribute in the development of rural area by mobilizing available skill and capital, improve the socio-economic status of the rural poor especially women through financial services and community development activities, provide micro credit to the rural poor for the business, agriculture, industries, trade and services and to Provide Social awareness about the surrounding and its conservation. The bank provides services such as non-collateral based loan, collateral based loan, saving, remittance and non-financial services.
