Mishri Kada for energy

Mishri Kada is one of the most healthy and nutritious drinks belonging to the Nepali culture. It is made out of mishri (sugar crystals). The mishri kada provides energy to the fasting women during the festival of Teej in Nepal. However, as this drink or soup (as it is consumed hot) has high amount of sugar, it is better to consume it in lesser amount. It is one of the best drinks to be consumed when you are fasting or when you feel weak. It is also taken during the 13 days of death mourning in Nepal. Also, the kada is served to a woman in her post-pregnancy period if she had a normal delivery, however, it is better to consult your doctor before giving it to a pregnant woman.

Here is the way of making Mishri Kada in Nepali kitchen:

Ingredients:

¼ lb sugar crystal

½ liter water

5 whole black pepper

1 tsp ghee or clarified butter

mishri

Procedure:

First of all, take a pan and heat water in it. When the water is lukewarm, add the sugar crystal, black pepper and ghee to it. Let the mixture boil for about fifteen minutes or until the sugar crystal has melted. When it melts, the mixture turns thick. Take it out of the pan and pour it into a bowl or a glass (the traditional way of drinking it). Your Mishri Kada is ready to be served hot.

It is one of the best remedies for cold during winters.
