This mountain on the Nepal-Tibet border is also considered as one of the sacred mountain related to Lord Shiva. It is also called Shisapangma in Tibetan language.

Dorje Lakpa (6975m)

This mountain is considered holy in Buddhist religion and the permission for climbing the mountain was given only in 1964. However, it was not climbed until 1981. The name of the mountain means “the mountains of many sacred thunderbolts”.

Gauri Shankar (7134m)

This mountain got its name from its two peaks that, to the Hindus, looked like the pair of Gods Shiva and Gauri. The climb was restricted here until 1977 and it was only in 1979 that the mountain was scaled by an American-Nepali group.

Lhotse (8516m)

Next on the list is mount Lotse that lies on the south of Mt. Everest. Its name is in Sherpa language which means “South Peak”. It was first scaled in 1956.

Mount Everest (8848m)

Last but not the least on the list is the highest peak of the world. It is called Sagarmatha in Nepali language. It was first scaled by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953.
