Nepali actor Aaryan Sigdel

One of the popular Nepali film actors, Aaryan Sigdel was born as Harish Sigdel on 5 August 1984 in Dhunche of Rasuwa district. Born to a Hindu priest named Ramchandra Sigdel, Aaryan is known among his fans for his good looks and spontaneous acting. His family had later moved to Thankot in Kathmandu where Aaryan started his schooling from Dipendra Police School, however, he passed his SLC from Mangalodaya Higher Secondary School in Thankot. He joined RR Campus as a student of business, however, he could not complete it as he decided to enroll into acting classes.



He had joined the local dance troop named Trikon Kalakendra under which he performed in several functions and then he started performing in street plays. He was encouraged to pursue acting as a career after he played the main role in a street play called Janatako Prajatantra. The play was organized by Pariwartan Nepal, a theater group where he was learning acting. After that, he was featured in several music videos and television commercials and his portrayal of Parlee in a comedy serial named Houseful broadcasted in Kantipur Television and Kshitiz in Nepal Television’s TV drama Khusi Pal Bharko gave way to his commercial acting career recognizing him among the Nepali television viewers. Later, he also appeared as a host in a television talent hunt show Super Acting Competition. He has also directed a music video along with another contemporary actress Saujanya Subba.

His first movie with a lead role was Kismat with Rekha Thapa, his second film Mausam did an ok business in box office. Although he had already done two films, the movie that made him popular as an actor was his third film Mero Euta Saathi Cha, opposite to Namrata Shrestha, which was released in 2009. In the year 2010, he gave three hit movies named Hifajat, First Love and The Flashback. His movie Kasle Choryo Mero Man was a record breaker at the box office where he appeared opposite to Rekha Thapa once again. Although been criticized for being over selective about scripts in a small industry like Nepal, he is regarded as the highest paid actor in Nepali film industry with his newest release K Yo Maya Ho directed by Sudarshan Thapa, that made a good opening at the box office.

Aaryan Sigdel has also received awards including National Award for the best Actor (Mausam), National Award for best Actor (Mero Euta Saathi Chha), Best Actor Award, D Cine Award (Kohi Mero) and Best Actor Award, NEFTA Award (Kasle Choryo Mero Man).
