Update: The financial institution changed its name to ‘Nerude Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha’
Established in 2007 as a micro finance institution, Nerude Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited was incorporated with the objective of uplifting the socio-economic status of rural poor. The bank has initiated micro financial services and community development activities to female group members by replicating the basic approach of Grameen Bank Financial System of Bangladesh. The bank is registered under the Company Act 2063 BS and has the license of ‘D’ category financial institution from Nepal Rastra Bank.
The bank was established with the vision of becoming a leading and capable financial institution in microfinance sector to serve the poor people in Nepal for breaking to the vicious circle of poverty. The bank with the mission of providing financial services to the poor and deprived people at their door through group approach in suitable manner has made it its organizational goal to work as a self-sustained financial institution and serve a maximum number of the rural poor and deprived through delivery of micro finance services at the grassroots level.

The bank has been implementing micro finance program in fifteen districts of Nepal such as Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa, Siraha, Saptari, Udayapur, Sindhuli, Ilam, Dhankuta, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Terathum and Bara with the objectives of facilitating the poor people with credit for creating opportunities and generating income by mobilizing local resources, micro savings program for creating financial resources and for strengthening the credit transaction capabilities of its clients, extension services in the field of agriculture and small enterprises for modernizing their occupation and making their activities viable and sustainable and opportunities for overall social development together with raising their awareness about the undesirable socio-cultural and blind traditional practices.
The services provided by the bank include program services such as financial services such as credit delivery, saving mobilization and livestock insurance scheme under which come general loan, seasonal loan, business loan, bio-gas loan, livestock loan, collateral loan (business loan, education loan and foreign employment loan), personal voluntary saving, group fund saving, centre fund saving, life saving and two life saving and non-financial services such as compulsory group training (refresher training, skills development training, leadership and management training), exposure visits and center chief’s review meeting along with other services such as insurance services, life and housing compensation fund (LHC), remittance services and trainings. The bank provides its services through its central office in Biratnagar in Morang district and its branch offices in other districts.
The financial institution changed its name to ‘Nerude Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha’ in 2074.
