Established in the year 2052 BS, Sahid Gangalal National Heart Center is one of the leading hospitals in Nepal and the best among those that specializes in cardiac care. A non-profit making and service oriented hospital, it became an autonomous body in the year 2057 BS. The center was established as national referral center of cardiology and cardiac surgery where best cardiac services are available with latest technologies. The hospital was established after the government realizing the need of national heart center handed approximately fifty one ropanies of land to establish the hospital. The hospital initiated by late Man Mohan Adhikari was named Sahid Gangalal National Heart Center as a tribute one of the beloved martyr Galgalal Shrestha according to the decision of the council of the minister in 2052 BS. The previous shoe factory site was initially planned and cleaned by internal resources with the help of ADRA. The OPD services in the hospital was started in the year 1998 with formal inauguration of the emergency ICU, CCU, OT and sixty bedded in door services in the year 2058 BS. The hospital built a well equipped residency quarter for hospital staffs in the year 2060 BS with inauguration of new OT and ICU complex and 200 bedded complex foundations in the year 2061 BS.

The hospital provides services such as Cardiac Surgery (Coronary revascularization, valve surgery, congenital heart repair and aortic aneurysm repair) and Cardiology (Non-invasive cardiology and interventional cardiology). The departments under the hospital are Administrative departments, Anesthesiology, Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology, Nursing, Pathology and Pharmacy.
