Dental health and hygiene is one of the important health issues which is often neglected by the people. Although adequate measures are taken to diagnosis other diseases and treat them, dental health is often left alone. This is one reason why dental health problems are arising in the country with more and more people being affected by one or more dental problems, the most common being development of cavity in teeth.

Understanding the need and importance of dental health awareness among the people of Nepal, Samaj Dental Hospital was established with the objective of fulfilling this void. Established with the aim of making dental treatment easy for the general people and providing quality dental services in the country, Samaj Dental Hospital started its operations from July 2001. Based in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, the dental hospital is approved by the government of Nepal and is run by IRDS – Samaj, a non-profit organization.

The hospital established with the objectives of making people believe that oral health is as important as other parts of human body, making the dental treatment an access easy to the general people and providing skilled middle level human resource in the field of dentistry as the demand of the nation, Samaj Dental Hospital has been providing affordable, prompt and quality services to the people since its establishment. The hospital has been operating its three years certificate level academic program in dental science (dental hygiene course) through Samaj School of Dentistry in affiliation with CTEVT/GoN for past few years along with operating the clinical and community dental services. The school is situated at Bouddha in Kathmandu.

The services provided by the hospital include Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Periodontics, Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics and Endodontist services. The hospital is well equipped and facilitated with clinical equipment and instruments such as thirty two modern full equipped electronic chairs, five endomotors, twenty four hour generator backup and implant equipment set, radiography, sterilization and waiting halls for the patients as well as family members or friends coming together with them. The consultant, general dentist and dental hygienist provide dental services to the patients coming to the hospital for treatments as well as advices and consultations.
