Stuffed Fulaura

Newari culture is not only rich with festivals or jatras but also have a variety and excellence over the culinary talents. One of the culturally rich ethnic groups of Nepal, it has become successful to win the hearts of the people of Nepal with its culinary talents as rare are the people do not have a favorite Newari cuisine. Among the many, Stuffed Fulaura (stuffed black lentil patties) is one and this article mentions one of the ways of making Stuffed Fulaura.



Ingredients:

2 cups flour of black lentils

2 beaten eggs 1 tbsp garlic paste

1 tbsp garlic paste

1 tbsp chili paste

¼ tsp asafedita (hing)

Salt to taste

For Stuffing:

1 cup crushed cream chese

1 cup finely chopped scallion

1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Salt to taste

Procedure:

First of all, in a blender, put all the ingredients (except the ones used for stuffing) and make a thick paste. Then, keep covered in a large bowl and refrigerate it at least for two hours.

Now, clean the blender and combine all the stuffing ingredients and form a paste. Refrigerate it for two hours as well.

Then, with a wet hand, take and flatten two tablespoons of the lentil mixture on your palm and form a little cup out of it. Pour a tablespoon of cheese mixture into the cup and enclose the cup by bringing all the edges to the center. Repeat the process with the remaining pastes until they are finished. When it is down, take a deep frying pan and heat cooking oil. Put the Fulauras into the pan after the oil is heated and deep fry them. Take it out of the oil when it is done and serve the hot stuffed fulauras with spicy tomato chutney.
