Established in the year 1987 AD as Sun Rise English Boarding School, the school was never registered at the Ministry of Education with this name. Spread over four bighas of land at central Chitwan, the day school conducts classes from grade one to ten. The school was established by Dinanath Duwadi in his own home in Bharatpur- 06 in Chitwan district of Nepal where he started the classes from nursery to grade five with thirty three students and five teachers and staffs. After three years of operating it at Duwadi’s home, the board of directors decided to move it to Dipendranagar in 1992. However, it was closed in the year 1994 while it still had one hundred and forty two students, after the board of directors declared liquidity. Nevertheless, the school was purchased by a group of young educators within a week who registered it as Sunrise English School after removing the term ‘Boarding’ from its name.

Considered as an elite school outside the valley, the school has been successful to establish itself as a strong competitor in the Nepalese education system with its excellent results in the SLC examinations. The school that offers education for School Leaving Certificate Level has been among the top three schools in the district with the best results. The school, with its dedication to quality education, soon became popular in and around the district. The school was again shifted to an area of two and half bighas of land behind the Bharatpur Airport in order to provide sufficient land for wider classrooms and infrastructures. A part of Sun Rise School Chitwan Private Limited, the school has achieved more professional and economic drive by the new management. The school which has its own land and infrastructures also has a rich history of academic excellence in the district.

The school has an extensive library which offers thousands of books to the students to help them develop learning and reading habits. The computer and science labs offer the students a place to gain practical knowledge as well as conduct experiments and test hypothesis. The school not only prioritizes bookish education but also encourages its students to participate in various extracurricular activities and sports and for supporting and encouraging its students, it conducts various such activities and events throughout the year. With the dedication of its teachers and staffs, the school has been successful to get wonderful results in annual board examination which has made the school popular among the students as well as the guardians in the surrounding areas.
