Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital

Established in the year 1997 at Sankhu in Kathmandu, Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was funded by Interplast, Germany. The hospital spread across 120,000 sq ft of land is operated by a team of highly qualified German and Nepali medical professionals dedicated to provide quality medical facilities to the patients.



The hospital being first of its kind in Nepal, aims to provide plastic and reconstructive surgery services to the patients at minimum service charge. Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital also offers general operation, surgical checkup, dental treatments, physiotherapy, health education, laboratory, X-ray and ambulance facilities along with providing plastic and reconstructive surgery services.

The fully equipped hospital with fifty beds provides comprehensive health care services including a preventive as well as curative component. The hospital that offers its services to all the needy people who require its specialized services also provides dental care through its clinic located inside the hospital. Along with providing reconstructive, dental and other medical services, the hospital also organizes awareness raising programs with the objective to promote the general health status of the people and apart from such promotional activities, the Trust (Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust) through mobile clinics also provides a broad range of health services such as inter alias, ophthalmic care and reproductive health services particularly to those living in inaccessible, underserved and deprived areas.

Established in the year 1993, Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust is a charitable service oriented social organization focusing on providing help to the downtrodden, oppressed, destitute and underprivileged people of Nepal so that they can help themselves to face their economic and social hardships. The trust is named after Late Sushma Koirala, wife of the Late Prime Minister of Nepal, Girija Prasad Koirala. It was later Koirala’s interest and commitment in eliminating the social and economic problems of the poor and underprivileged through community development, education and public awareness activities that gave way to the establishment of the trust which was committed to social service.

The founder and also the president of the Trust, Sujata Koirala is determined and committed to continue her mother’s work of helping to empower the poor and underprivileged group through every means possible. The hospital being the first one of its kind has been providing its services to the people with the help of German as well as Nepali specialists with years of experience and dedication to give the quality medical services to the people.
