Rastriya Samachar Samiti (National News Agency), known popularly as RSS is the one and only news agency is Nepal. With its network all over the nation, it is the largest and longest serving news agency in the country. Established in 2010 BS under the Rastriya Samachar Samiti Act 2019, it was established after the merger of two pre-existing news agencies, Sagarmatha News Agency and Nepal Sambad Samiti. With its services, this government owned news agency has been facilitating the newspapers and broadcast media.


The subscribers of RSS has reached more than hundred papers, radios, online media and television and it collects news and information through the pool of permanent and stringer reporters scattered throughout the nation who contribute to its news services and photo file every day. Moreover, it also has arrangement for exchange of news with the reputed international news agencies like Associated Press of USA (AP), Agency France Presse (AFP) of France, Xinhua of China, Kuyodo of Japan, Press Trust of India (PTI) and Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) for over three decades now and has started providing quality photo service of national and international events subscribing from them and also exchanges news with these news agencies as a part of the bilateral arrangement.
