Spiced sweet Sikarni

For those who love spicy and sweet food, having Sikarni might be a wonderful experience. This delicious and lengthy but easy-to-prepare spiced sweet yogurt-pistachio dessert is definitely going to win the hearts of many. Its spicy sweet taste makes it a unique item to be served as a dessert. Here is how you can make Sikarni in your own kitchen.


6 cups regular yogurt

2 cups sour cream

¼ cup double cream

2 cups sugar

½ tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground black pepper

1 tsp ground cardamom

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp saffron (optional)

1 cup unsalted, shelled pistachio nuts cut into thin slices



First of all, mix yogurt and sour cream together in a large bowl. Then pour the mixture into a large colander with a cheese cloth liner and leave it to drain for about 12 hours. Then, transfer the mixture into a mixing bowl. Dissolve saffron (if used) in lukewarm cream. Add sugar, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, dissolved saffron and pistachio nuts into the yogurt mixture and fold in thoroughly. Keep overnight in a refrigerator to chill it. Your Sikarni is ready to serve as soon as it chills. To serve the dessert, scoop a cup of Sikarni into a serving plate and garnish it with a generous amount of unsalted, shelled whole pistachio nuts.
