Rafting in Nepal

Nepal is home to eight out of the fourteen highest peaks in the world. From these mighty Himalayas, thundering rivers crash down through the foothills, fed by monsoon rains and melting snow, on their way to the Great Plains of the Ganges.



The rivers in Nepal have something in store for everyone. Trishuli, Seti, Bhote Koshi, Kali Gandaki, Marsyandi, Sun Koshi, Arun, Karnali and Tamur are some of the most popular rivers in Nepal. They offer a wide range of difficulties, and each river has been graded somewhere between I to VI on the basis of intricacy. The river water is warm and inviting. The banks along the rivers are bug-free, quite appropriate for camping. The villages on the way are so culturally rich. The views around the rivers are magnificent. So many things go parallel to camping when you are in Nepal.

When to go
The best time for rafting is October to early December or March to early June. From mid October, the weather is calmer. During December, many rivers become too cold to enjoy, and December becomes a time to consider a shorter trips. From June to August the monsoon rains arrive and the river flow becomes 10 times higher.
