Female pop star Sarishma Amatya

One of the most popular Nepali pop stars, Sarishma Amatya was born on 10 Shrawan in Lalitpur, Nepal. She entered into the Nepali music industry more than fifteen years ago and gave the nation some of her best songs such as Ma timilai maya garchu, oh mero priyatam, kina timi tadha huncha, timi nai dil ko dhadkan, etc.



She studied in Adarsha Vidya Mandir, Lalitpur and has done diploma in Classical Music from Padma Kanya Campus. Also interested and trained in dance, Amatya is fluent in Nepali, English, Newari and Hindi languages. She has worked as a music teacher in Pacific Academy and also as a program presenter at NTV2. She has worked as a RJ in Times FM as well. She started her musical journey in the year 2053 BS with her first song Khai ko hola mero jeevan sathi. She has released four albums till date, that are Sarishma (2053 BS), Madhurima (2002 AD), Best of Sarishma (CD 2010 AD) and Passion 2012 AD.

Inspired by her parents and her husband, she has been able to establish herself as one of the successful Nepali singers. She credits her godfather (as she addresses him) Buddha Sayami for her successful entry and career in the Nepali music industry. She has done around 300 to 400 stage shows all over Nepal including some in Qatar, Hong Kong, Malaysia, London, Canada and USA.

She has also received many awards and honors for her contribution in music industry. Her awards includes Best Female Vocal in Inter-college Competition 2056 BS, Best Kollywood Cine Award (for Nayak) in 2056 BS, Image Award 2058 BS, Best Vocal (Inter College Newari Song Competition 2054 BS), Kollywood Cine Award (New Talent Award –Film Nayak – 2056 BS), Rastriya Nari Sworna Samman on the occasion of Nari Diwas in 2068 BS. Also been nominated in Hits FM Music Award 2054, she has sung over 200 Nepali as well as Newari songs.
