Hip Hop artist Sudin Pokharel

Sudin Pokharel, commonly known as DA 69, is a popular name in the Nepali hip hop and rap music scenario. Born on 23 February in Kathmandu as the son of a professor of political science, he was raised in his hometown Biratnagar. His mother is an ophthalmic assistant in Nepal Eye Hospital in Biratnagar and his sister is a web page designer, now based in Australia.



He completed his SLC from St. Joseph’s School at Tinpainee in Biratnagar was an average student. He completed his I.A. and B.A. in Journalism from Ratna Rajya Campus (RR Campus) in Kathmandu and received his Masters degree from Tribhuvan University.

Interested in music since his young age, he formed a band with Sugam Pokharel named SPO x Band which, however, was super flop. Nevertheless, he continued his passion for music and later contributed to a sing titled Udi jane yo panchi haina which was pretty much well received. Although they disbanded, they are still good friends and sometimes collaborates for a song or two. Sudin Pokharel was called Diwash Pokharel in his school. He later collaborated with Girish Khatiwoda the band known as Girish and The Unity released their first album Back Again which became quite successful with one of its song Ma esto chhu ma testo chhu become one of the hit and popular songs especially among the young crowd. Girish leaving for abroad left the band in peril and later Sudin collaborated with Aidray and Asif and formed another band named The Unity which is known as one of the popular hip-hop bands in Nepal. The first song by the band titled Shez the bomb, featuring Sugam Pokhrel was super hit and it opened the doors of music industry for Sudin once again.

Besides being a musician, Sudin Pokhrel is also a sports newsreader in Kantipur Television. He also used to play cricket as an opening bowler and middle order batsman in his local team.
